This woman was inspired by the retro housewife living in a modern world. She's beautifully kept, always wearing her pumps and her pearls--but she has to remain quiet to keep up her perfect image. She's bound to her own rules and society's expectations. I painted her in oils to capture the beauty of her features, but for her lips I smeared an oil-acrylic mixture across her face. This was painted to resemble a gag, to remind the audience that even though she is beautiful, it comes at a price.
